Diamond
Diamonds, symbols of purity and eternity, were formed billions of years ago in the depths of the Earth under extreme pressure and heat. Its name comes from the Greek adamas, meaning ‘invincible’, in reference to its exceptional hardness. The first diamonds were discovered in India over 3,000 years ago, then mined in Brazil and, from the XIXᵉ century, in South Africa, which remains a major producer. It is famous for its unique brilliance due to its perfect pure carbon crystal structure. It is one of the most powerful symbols of love and luxury.

Spinel
Spinel is a fine stone that has been known since ancient times. It has often been mistaken for ruby in history, notably in the English crown jewels where the famous ‘Black Prince's Ruby’ is in fact a red spinel. Its name derives from the Latin spina, meaning ‘thorn’, in reference to its sharp crystals. It originates mainly from deposits in Asia, notably Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Long underestimated, it is now valued for its rarity and diversity of colours (red, pink, blue, violet). Symbolism of black spinel: protective, it is used as a shield against negative energies and to anchor the wearer in the present moment.

Sapphire
Sapphire, a precious stone belonging to the corundum family, has been known since Antiquity for its emblematic blue hue, although it exists in other colours, with the exception of red (ruby). Its name comes from the Greek sappheiros, meaning ‘blue stone’. Mainly mined in regions such as Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Madagascar and Kashmir, sapphire has long been associated with royalty and divine wisdom. Used as a talisman, it symbolised protection and fidelity.

Ruby
Ruby, famous for its intense red hue, is a variety of corundum coloured by the presence of chromium. Its name comes from the Latin rubeus, meaning ‘red’. Known since ancient times, it was considered a royal stone and a symbol of passion, courage and protection. The main historical deposits are in Burma (Myanmar), which produces the famous ‘pigeon's blood’ rubies, but also in Mozambique, Thailand and Africa. Highly prized in jewellery, rubies are also remarkable for their hardness, second only to diamonds.

Emerald
Emerald, famous for its vibrant green color, is a variety of beryl colored by traces of chromium and vanadium. Its name comes from the Greek smaragdos , meaning "green stone". Appreciated since Antiquity, it was particularly prized by the Egyptians, notably Cleopatra, and the pre-Columbian civilizations of South America. The most renowned deposits are found in Colombia, but also in Zambia, Brazil, Pakistan and Afghanistan. A symbol of renewal and fertility, it has long been associated with wisdom and clairvoyance. Fragile despite its hardness, emerald often has inclusions, called "garden", which add to its unique character.
